Discipline: Shortboard surfing (QS/International)
Engagement: Performance‑mindset coaching (NLP + sport psych tools)
Core goals: Stable pre‑heat confidence, conflict navigation, consistent competitive mindset

Athlete bio

Giada Legati is an Italy‑represented shortboard surfer raised around world‑class reef and beach breaks. Known for smooth rail work and smart heat strategy, she now competes with a clear, repeatable mental routine she can trigger on demand.

Competitive highlights

  • WSL Krui Pro QS 5,000 (Indonesia): Semifinalist (Equal 3rd)

  • West Papua International Surfing Competition (Indonesia): 2nd (Women’s Open)

  • Nias Utara International Surfing Competition (Indonesia): 3rd (Women’s Open)

These results are Giada’s achievements. Our work focused on mental preparation, routines, and communication so she could compete at her best.

Challenges

  • Self‑confidence fluctuations under pressure and after early‑round mistakes

  • Dealing with conflicts (judges, peers, travel/lineup stress) without losing focus

  • Finding her best competitive mindset on command, heat after heat

What we did

  • Limiting beliefs check (audit + reframes): Identified trigger thoughts (perfectionism, comparison) and reframed into controllables—wave selection, opening score target, breathing cadence, first‑exchange plan.

NLP “Circle of Excellence” for confidence:

  • Choose a physical “circle” (sand spot / wax dot).
  • Recall peak states (calm, sharp, fluid) and stack them.
  • Step into the circle while amplifying sensations (feel of board, shorebreak sound, sun on skin).
  • Link a micro‑gesture (press right big toe + 4‑second exhale) to lock the state.
  • Test and future‑pace: rehearse first exchange, low‑time chase, or needing a 5.50—then fire the anchor to re‑enter the state quickly.
  • Targeted visualization (venue‑specific): Short scripts for opening exchanges, priority resets, and last‑minute chases; wave‑ID heuristics (mid‑face 2‑turn vs. end‑section closeout), entry breath pattern, post‑wave reset ritual.
  • Anchoring/association routine: 45‑second pre‑heat loop—box‑breath (4‑4‑4‑4) → stance cue → Circle of Excellence → first‑wave plan.
  • PDF for sponsors: One‑pager with bio, photos, results, and contacts to support brand outreach.
  • Negotiation & social skills: Judge‑room language (facts, not feelings), de‑escalation steps, clear boundaries for travel/lineup situations, and sponsor call playbook.

Outcomes

  • Reliable pre‑heat state (repeatable 45‑second routine)
  • Faster bounce‑back after low openers or interference calls
  • Calmer conflict handling without performance drop
  • Clear sponsor story & assets for outreach
